These unique pot mittens are our original creation, crafted from vintage sakabukuro—traditional Japanese sake bags made of sturdy canvas cloth dyed with kakishibu (fermented persimmon tannin). The fabric is further enhanced with sashiko stitching, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique used for both reinforcement and decoration.
The natural properties of kakishibu-dyed canvas make these mittens exceptionally durable and water-resistant. We’ve added a layer of cotton padding for heat protection and a small tab for easy hanging. The inner lining is made from new cotton fabric, also dyed with kakishibu, ensuring a cohesive and authentic aesthetic.
Please note: Due to the use of vintage materials, each mitten may exhibit unique characteristics and may experience wear over time. This adds to the item’s charm and individuality.
